Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
DuraFlex Flue Liner Replacement: The Henderson Owner’s Guide
We stock and install DuraFlex-compatible flue liner replacement sections for Henderson homes, and most swaps run between $850 and $2,400 depending on the liner diameter, length, and how much of the existing DuraFlex run has failed. In most cases we can schedule the replacement within a few business days once we confirm the measurements and the condition of the surrounding chimney. The way owners usually find out is simple: a fireplace that suddenly drafts poorly, a metallic smell that lingers after a fire, or a sweep/inspection that shows a tear or separation in the flex liner. Danny Cortes has pulled enough deteriorated DuraFlex out of Green Valley and Anthem chimneys to know that once a liner starts to go, waiting only makes the replacement more involved, not less.

Which DuraFlex Models This Applies To
DuraFlex is a flexible stainless steel chimney liner system, most commonly found in Henderson homes with wood-burning fireplaces that were originally built without a clay tile liner or that had a tile liner fail. The product line includes DuraFlex 304 and DuraFlex 316 alloy options, with the 316 typically spec’d for gas appliances where the exhaust is more corrosive. The most frequent compatibility mistake we see is an owner ordering a liner section by inside diameter alone. DuraFlex is measured by the inside diameter of the flue it lines, and common residential sizes run 4″, 5″, 6″, and 8″. But the outside diameter of the flexible corrugated tube matters just as much when it has to pass through a damper throat or a tight offset. If you can find the original paperwork, great. If not, a quick measurement across the top opening and a look at the damper area tells us what will physically fit. We install both OEM DuraFlex sections and quality equivalent liners from brands like HeatShield and Gelco, and we will tell you plainly when the OEM part is the only sensible choice versus when an equivalent does the same job for less.

Signs Your DuraFlex Flue Liner Replacement Is Failing
- Visible rust streaks or staining on the chimney chase or firebox floor. This usually means the liner has a pinhole or seam separation, and moisture from combustion is now traveling somewhere it shouldn’t.
- A smell like burnt metal or hot ozone after fires. When the stainless liner overheats or begins to separate, the smell is distinct from normal wood smoke. It’s the liner itself degrading.
- White or gray flaky deposits you can feel between the liner sections. That’s creosote or corrosion product breaking loose, a sign the liner surface is no longer smooth and intact.
- Draft problems that weren’t there last season. A liner with a tear or collapse allows dilution air in and lets smoke stall. The fireplace feels like it has lost its pull.
- A chimney sweep or camera inspection that shows a kink, tear, or flat spot. We camera every liner replacement before quoting, so you see the same image we do. No guesswork.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For Henderson homes, a straightforward DuraFlex flue liner replacement typically lands between $850 and $2,400 installed. The spread comes down to a few honest variables: how many feet of liner need to come out and go back in, whether the existing liner is 304 or 316 alloy, whether the chimney needs a new top plate or rain cap at the same time, and how tight the access is around the damper. Every quote from us is a written price delivered before any work starts. That price includes the liner material, removal of the failed section, installation, a camera verification pass when the work is done, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise behind the whole job. You will not get a call halfway through about an unexpected upcharge. If it’s not done right, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
There are things you can reasonably do yourself, and there are things you shouldn’t. You can look at the top of your chimney with a flashlight and check for obvious rust or separation. You can note whether the fireplace drafts differently than it did last year and whether you smell that hot-metal odor after a fire. What you should not do is attempt to pull a flex liner out of a chase, feed a new one past a damper assembly, or re-secure a top plate from a ladder on a two-story Henderson roofline. Flex liner work puts you at height, and more importantly, a liner that’s separated inside the flue means combustion gases are no longer contained the way they should be. That’s not a place to learn by trial and error. If you suspect your DuraFlex liner has failed, call us at (775) 485-5516 and we will camera it, show you what’s there, and quote the fix in writing. Know what’s in your flue before you light the first fire of the season.

FAQs
In the Las Vegas Valley’s dry climate, a properly installed DuraFlex 304 liner typically lasts 15 to 25 years, while a 316 liner can go longer when matched to the right fuel type. The dry heat actually helps here compared to coastal climates where salt and humidity accelerate corrosion, but the intense summer attic temperatures do put a thermal cycling load on the liner and its connections. Regular inspections catch the connectors and seams long before the liner tube itself gives out. Call (775) 485-5516 for a camera inspection if your liner is over 15 years old and you’re not sure of its condition.
Sometimes a short section can be replaced or a seam re-secured if the surrounding liner is still sound, but in most cases where the liner shows through-wall rust, tears, or collapse, replacement is the only honest fix. Danny Cortes will show you the camera image and tell you plainly if a repair buys you years or just months. Call (775) 485-5516 for an exact quote and we’ll show you what we see before you spend a dollar.
Most single-story Henderson homes take one day from setup to final camera verification, while two-story homes with tighter roof access sometimes run into a second day. We protect the floors with drop cloths before anything comes down the chimney, and you’ll get a photo of the clean-up before the crew leaves. Call (775) 485-5516 to schedule a measurement visit.
We stock common DuraFlex-compatible diameters and connectors on the truck, so many Henderson replacements happen same-visit once the failed section is confirmed. Odd sizes or longer runs may take a few business days to bring in. Call (775) 485-5516 and we’ll tell you over the phone whether your size is on hand.
