Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
HeatShield Chimney Cleaning in North Las Vegas, NV | Kindling Chimney Henderson
A Chimney Sweep - North Las Vegas visit for HeatShield systems means more than sweeping out creosote. It means inspecting a HeatShield Cerfractory lining that’s been baking under desert sun and, in too many Aliante and Eldorado homes, quietly taking on water through a rusted builder-grade cap. We’re an independent HeatShield service provider working across North Las Vegas every week, and our crews know what those specific failures look like before they become a four-figure liner replacement. Call (775) 485-5516 for a free estimate.

Why North Las Vegas Residents Choose Us for HeatShield Service
We work on HeatShield sales & service systems constantly, and in North Las Vegas that familiarity matters. Most local fireplaces were built in the 1990s and 2000s, which means most HeatShield coatings we touch are now 15 to 25 years old. That’s exactly the age when Cerfractory starts showing hairline cracks from thermal cycling, and when a technician who only sees one HeatShield job a month will miss what a trained eye catches in ninety seconds.
Danny Cortes grew up in East Los Angeles and picked up his trade fundamentals at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College before spending years working chimneys across the Southwest. He and his crews have served North Las Vegas long enough to know the difference between a HeatShield lining that failed from age and one that failed because a galvanized cap rusted through in 2018 and nobody noticed. We don’t rush that assessment, and we don’t recommend work you don’t need. We also show up in uniform, put shoe covers and drop cloths down before anything else, and hand you a written price before a single tool comes off the truck.

Common HeatShield Chimney Cleaning Problems We Solve in North Las Vegas
- Hairline cracking in Cerfractory from attic heat swings. North Las Vegas attics hit 140°F in July and drop 50 degrees overnight. HeatShield’s Cerfractory flue sealant expands and contracts with those swings, and by year eight or ten, hairline cracks appear. Left alone, those cracks let monsoon rainwater wick into the flue. We can resurface before it reaches that point.
- Joint repair material separating from clay tile edges. In the 2000s-era tract homes that dominate North Las Vegas, the original clay flue tiles were often set with mortar that’s now crumbling. HeatShield joint repair material applied over those deteriorating edges loses its bond. We see this weekly in neighborhoods off Losee Road and Camino Al Norte.
- Delamination from poor surface prep. If a previous company applied HeatShield resurfacing without grinding down loose mortar first, the new coat flakes off within two or three seasons. We find this often in North Las Vegas fireplaces that were “repaired” during a quick pre-sale flip. Proper prep takes longer, but the coating actually holds.
- Bond failure on metal flue liners in zero-clearance units. Builder-grade zero-clearance fireplaces are everywhere in North Las Vegas, especially in Aliante and Eldorado. When those units get over-fired, the metal flue liner warps slightly and the HeatShield coating loses its grip. The fix is a re-application after the metal cools and is properly cleaned, not just smeared on top.
- Water entry through rusted galvanized chimney caps. This is the one we see most in North Las Vegas. The early-2000s building boom installed galvanized caps that are now rusting through, letting monsoon rain pour directly onto the HeatShield lining below. The cap fails first, then the lining follows.
HeatShield Service in North Las Vegas: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Nearly every HeatShield system we inspect in North Las Vegas’s Aliante and Eldorado neighborhoods shows accelerated deterioration around the rusted galvanized chimney caps installed during the early-2000s building boom. Here’s the sequence: the cap rusts through, rainwater pools on the flue tile shoulder, and that standing water soaks into the HeatShield Cerfractory coating from the top down. The coating spalls. Then the underlying clay tile, already dried and cracked from years of 110-degree summers, starts absorbing moisture directly. Within two or three monsoon seasons, a repairable lining becomes a candidate for full replacement. That cap-driven failure pattern isn’t common in older Las Vegas neighborhoods with masonry chimneys and newer stainless caps. In North Las Vegas, where the housing stock rolled out fast and builders used the cheapest cap available, it’s the rule rather than the exception. If you live in Aliante or Eldorado and haven’t looked at your chimney cap since you bought the house, it’s worth a look. Our Level 2 inspection covers exactly this.
HeatShield Models & Products We Service in North Las Vegas
We service all three HeatShield product lines: the Cerfractory Flue Sealant, the Joint Repair System, and the Resurfacing System. When we recoat or repair a HeatShield lining, we use genuine HeatShield Cerfractory material every time. Its expansion rate matches the existing lining, and that’s what prevents the new cracks that aftermarket substitutes cause. For surrounding components like dampers and caps, we use quality aftermarket parts that meet or exceed OEM specs. For resurfacing specifically, the Resurfacing System is our most common service on older North Las Vegas tract homes, because it restores a continuous interior surface over cracked tile without the cost of a full liner replacement. We’ll only recommend full replacement when the flue tiles are too spalled or offset for HeatShield to safely repair.

AfterHeatShield Service Pricing in North Las Vegas
Most standard chimney sweeps run between $189 and $329, and that’s the starting point for any HeatShield work we do in North Las Vegas. A Chimney Inspection - North Las Vegas at Level 2, which we recommend before any HeatShield repair on a home built before 2010, typically runs $250 to $450. HeatShield resurfacing, which includes thorough cleaning and surface prep, generally falls between $1,500 and $3,500 depending on flue height and condition. Joint repair is less, usually $400 to $900 per affected section. What drives the cost in North Las Vegas specifically is what we find when we get eyes on the cap and the flue. That’s why every estimate starts with a camera inspection you can watch with us, not a guess over the phone. Call (775) 485-5516 for an exact quote. Estimates are free, and you’ll see the images yourself before deciding anything.

FAQs – HeatShield Chimney Cleaning in North Las Vegas
Monsoon downpours rarely last long, but they dump a lot of water fast. If your chimney cap is rusted or missing, that water pours directly onto your HeatShield lining, and after a few seasons the Cerfractory spalls. The fix is usually a new stainless cap and, if the lining shows damage, a resurfacing. Call (775) 485-5516 and we’ll put a camera up there to show you exactly what the monsoon has been doing to your flue.
Yes, and we do it often. The cap gets replaced first, usually with a stainless multi-flue cap that won’t rust through like the original galvanized one, then we let the flue dry and resurface the HeatShield where the water damaged it. Skipping the cap is the mistake we see too often; the best HeatShield repair won’t hold if water keeps coming in. Call (775) 485-5516 for a free estimate.
Usually yes. Builder-grade zero-clearance fireplaces in North Las Vegas still have plenty of service life left if the flue is maintained. A HeatShield resurfacing costs a fraction of replacing the entire fireplace, and it restores a safe, continuous lining. We’ll only tell you to replace if the underlying metal or clay is too far gone to hold the coating. That recommendation always comes with camera images so you can see the condition yourself and trust the call.
Most HeatShield resurfacing in North Las Vegas is done in a single day, sometimes two if the flue needs extended drying time after a monsoon soak. You don’t need to be home the whole time, but we do ask someone to be there for the first fifteen minutes so we can walk the house with you and confirm where we’ll be working. Danny Cortes makes a point of walking every homeowner through what we find in the flue, no rushing, no vague answers.
In our experience, that’s almost always surface prep. If the old mortar joints weren’t ground down and the flue wasn’t properly dried, the new HeatShield Cerfractory coat can’t bond and starts flaking within a few seasons. North Las Vegas temperature swings make poor prep fail faster here than anywhere else we work. We prep the surface the way the material requires, and if you’d like us to inspect a recent failure, call (775) 485-5516.
